The stats will be slightly different this month, in that rather than presenting duplicated tracks both individually and combined, I will simply present them as one combined track (except remixes - they will continue to be presented separately). Similarly, in instances where there are duplicated tracks, assigned to multiple albums, I have instead opted to assign them to the relevant parent studio album (for e.g. the two versions of My Heart Will Go On are both counted towards Let's Talk About Love streams, the two versions of The Power of Love are assigned to The Colour of My Love).

I'm surprised when I see FIY and LTAL total streams, they are so close as were those albums phisical CD sales!

Sony needs to do something about the availability on Youtube of her videos in Asia and some other countries. Plus, they should add "Because You Loved Me", "Beauty And The Beast" and "My Heart Will Go On", which are her most popular songs and don't have their proper music videos uploaded on her Vevo account. It's a shame that people end up listening to fan-made videos using the album track and those views don't count towards the totals that are taking into account for "equivalent sales" purposes.

I've got a question tho, how does Spotify count album streams? Do you have to listen to an album in 1 go? Or do they count a whole album stream when you listened to, for example, the first half one day, and then the second half the other?

Also, can you somewhere see your own stream counts?

According to the RIAA; "1,500 on-demand audio and/or video streams from the album count as 1 Unit for certification purposes." So, it doesn't matter which song(s) you listen to from an album, if the total plays of those songs equal 1,500, it will count as 1 album "sold." I hope that helps!

If you're talking about Spotify specifically, then each song is assigned to a parent album and the total combined streams for those songs = the streams for the album. If you're talking about national charts, it will depend on the relevant country but what TommKat22 has said is what counts for US certifications - not for charts. The US has something called Track Equivalent Albums (TEAs):

"The Billboard 200 will now include two tiers of on-demand audio streams. TIER 1: paid subscription audio streams (equating 1,250 streams to 1 album unit) and TIER 2: ad-supported audio streams (equating 3,750 streams to 1 album unit)."

Using Falling Into You as an example last month (and this makes an assumption all streams are US based - they aren't) - if 50% are tier 1 and 50% are tier 2, that would mean: 6,283,397 breaks down as 2,513 + 1,675 = 4,188 copies of FIY "sold" last month in the US.

The answer to your second question is only if you use an add on like Last.FM.

Looks like I'm Alive is Celine's greatest hits from 2002 on. Would be interesting to have a breakdown per country to see if total is comprised of many countries or maybe there is one or two countries that account for most views in the total.

Thank you very much for your anwsers!! Very interesting. it's a shame that Spotify doesn't track the personal song plays (or they do of course, but keep the info for themselves ) I used to had last.fm on my computer, but after my computer's 3rd crash, I wasn't bothered anymore lol.

Anyway, I used to listen to mp3's on my phone while traveling to work and home, but now i listen to Spotify to crank up her numbers

Thank you again, Wayne, for these numbers! I truly appreciate the effort that goes into this! One quick note though, didn’t Loved Me Back To Life also have 1 million streams per track? Unless Open Arms is included on one of the international editions, I can’t see it from my US Spotify account though. Encore Un Soir is close too, since only Ma Force from the Deluxe Edition hasn’t reached 1 million either.
