Maybe, but the first person was I think George Michael.
"George Michael was his first celebrity guest
Corden told Colbert how the idea for the actual Carpool Karaoke grew from there once he began his late-night show."
After that Mariah followed.

The George Michael carpool was from a comedy show ‘Gavin and Stacey’ which was very popular in the U.K.  This particular scene is for a fundraiser show in the U.K.  I wouldn’t class this as the first carpool karaoke. I think the idea for his US show came from this but in this scene both are acting. James is playing the role of Smithy from Gavin and Stacey.

Then I think it was Mariah? When I googled it(like a thousand times) I couldn't find any other name than her or George Michael.

it was only mentioned in one interview, that's why i was so perked up about it. it's buried somewhere deep, or it got deleted. or i could have dreamt it, but i swear not!

oh well, not use losing sleep over. it maybe will turn up one day. we can be pretty sure that celine was asked at least one time to do the show before she was finally able to do it.
