Hi everyone!
I've been a Céline Dion fan for a very long time, ever since I was a teenager. I recognize a lot in Céline and her struggles, she and her music supported me with my struggles during my puberty and at school.
I'm from Holland, my mom used to live in Canada and my father comes from Swtizerland. Here I also see a connection between me and Céline (her background and her appearance at the songfestival), which I love!!! ;-)
In Holland there is a big fan club but there's not really a forum anymore. That's why I am here now. I would really like to connect with other Céline fans, from Holland but also the rest of the world, so I can share my love for her and her work, because not everyone in my day to day life understands.
People used to tease me during university, that's why I now choose to not tell people about my love for Céline and her music.
Do you have the same experiences with being open about being a fan?
How do you deal with people who say bad things about her, do you feel the urge to defend her or just let it go by?
I really hope to share experiences with you and get to know you.
Any tips for a new member are also welcome!
With love,
Rinona!

hi rinona
I'm Leah and I live in the US!! I am 16 and also a big Celine Fan like you!! and I know how you feel about expressing your feelings for Celine!! and I breaks my heart more than anything, but it must be because I'm a teenager and pretty much everyone at school like all the rap singers, or singers like lady gaga or katy perry (aka singers that are bad influences and cant sing)!! and I want to talk about Celine so badly around other people but knowing in the passed that when I did people would roll there eyes and just look like there not interested at all and I hate that more than anything!! I just wish more teenagers would see what I (we) see in Celine!! but thankfully I have my friends and family who do care about my feelings for Celine and I can feel comfortable talking bout her around them but its just anyone else that I'm afraid to and it isn't mine or Celine's fault at all!!!!! I blame it on the way this world is turning out and all the bad things people are getting hooked onto and they just don't care about the good stuff anymore and I hate that more than anything!!!!!
do you know what I mean?? and can I ask you a question?? are you one of those people that got to meet Celine in the meet and greet before Celine's A New Day Live In Las Vegas Show 2007 that is on the A New Day DVD??
You are my hero Céline <3 I love so much and thank you for everything <3 <3 <3

Welcome Riona! Glad to have you on board. There are lots of younger fans here so make yourself at home.
I say just ignore the haters, they are missing out on great stuff. See you around.

Hi everyone!
Thanks for all your answers, you really made me feel welcome ;-)
I'm not that young anymore, I'm 24 now, but a fan since my teens - just to be clear about that. Or is being in your twenties still young on this forum?
I'll see you around on other topics, hop to get to know you.
And Leah, to answer your question, I wasn't at the meet and greet, sadly! I hope to meet her someday.. did any of you guys had the opportunity already? And do you perhaps know if she wears her own perfume?

Hey Leah, I totally know what you mean, I went through the same thing in high school, and still find the same prejudices today when talking to my colleagues.
Unlike you, I don't have a family or friends that care about Celine, but they accept that I she's very important in my life.
The only thing they don't know is how much time I put into being a fan and collecting everything about her.
It's good to hear you have a role model like Celine and not someone else!!!
You can learn a lot from her lifestyle.
I never knew a love like this 'til you

Welcome to forum. You'll find a lot of genuine kind people here. The rest of us are'nt so bad either.

Rinona, welcome. I'm so happy to have you here. I'm 30, so to me, being in your twenties is indeed still young. I totally know what you mean. I can't stand the Lady Gag-Me's, that's what I call her, and the other singers people like today. I came to CDF to find permission to feel the way I do about Celine. I honestly have to tell you that one of my biggest struggles/challenges is ignoring the haters and nay-sayers. It seems the more I love her, the more I grow. What I have had to do is become very cautious/careful about choosing my close friends and the people I let in to my close inner circle. I only let in those who are positive and kind. People who claim to be fans but then have nothing but bad/negative things to say about her do not make it to my close friends list. Look around and see who is consistent with who you are/what you need/want here. And yes, to answer your question, I instantly rise to herr defense, very few things make me more angry. I also admire you for being able to hide your love for her, I can't. I'm way too obvious and wish I had some of your skill.
I would also like to give a shout-out to Leah. There are/were some young teen-age fans on here and they are/were some of the most dedicated/devoted people here. It's you guys who will ensure that she is carried in to the next generation. No matter how miserably the latest album flopped here in the US, her legacy/legend/status must go on! LOL So welcome, Rinona, I am here anytime you want/need to talk to someone.
L'immensite de mon amour pour Celine! L'amour existe encore pour elle! :)
