I have a question for those of you who are familiar with the stories behind his songs. I've alwasy wondered if 'My Mother Had A Brother' is based on some true story.

I watched a documentary on YouTube a couple of days ago and George really said that Andrew was the one girls were crazy about.

Yeah, he always talks like that. And George hated himself back then, hated the way he looked. A bit chubby (compared to Andy) etc. Still have a hhhuuuuuggggeeeeeeee soft spot for Mr Michael though. Would love to meet him one day.

Reminds me of Celine, she tends to dislike how she looked in her early years. Actually, it was the first George Michael documentary I've ever seen. Guess I haven't been so interested in his story before, his music was just enough for me. But now I'd really like to get to know him, if you know what I mean. So I saw that documentary and a couple of interviews. I was impressed. He seems to be a very candid person. Again, reminds me of Celine. I wonder what would happen if the two of them ever have the chance to work together. I'd say they'd make a good team, right?

Just a qiuck question guys. Could someone explain how he came up with the stage name George Michael, where does it come from? I mean, did he himself choose it or someone else suggested it?

Here's what i've always thought - back of my brain somewhere! May be right, may be wrong.
George comes from his original name Georgios Kyriakou Panayiotou, and the Michael because he liked it, thought it sounded good with George, and because his uncle's name was/is George. Michael is a Greek name and so he could still keep his origins within his "new" name.

Oh, thank you! This explanation really makes sense. And, yes, I always knew where George comes from since his father is from Cypris (which is relatively close to Bulgaria). A version of this name - Georgi - is very common here in Bulgaria, too. But I wondered about Michael. So thanks again for letting me know!

I had a dream last night. I'm watching some concert on TV and Geroge performs some beautiful ballad. Somewhere in the middle of the song he suddenly stops and asks the audience 'Do you remember this?', and on the big screen behind him we see an old video of him performing a more upbeat version of the same song. Everyone stands up and starts dancing. It was a cute dream, reminded me a little of Celine's 'Au coeur du stade' when the backup singers perform the Bee Gees medley.

I couldn't find an actual George Michael vocal range video on YouTube so I'd appreciate it if someone could help me with this. What's the type of his singing voice (I'd say it's a relatively high one but I'm not really sure since I don't know much about singing) and his vocal range?
