I am 28years old, married, and have two very special children.  Lucas, age 5, is the most talkative energetic child you will ever meet.  Katelyn, age 3, is determined to do anything.  The thing about my children is they both have special needs.  Lucas has aspergers, epilepsy, and several other medical conditions which have left him on a cocktail of medications, and a feeding tube.  Katelyn suffered a cardiac arrest when she was 2 months old due to a carnitine deficiency.  The cardiac arrest caused damage in her brain making her motor skills delayed, and a feeding tube.  At three years old she cannot walk, or even sit in a chair on her own, but don't underestimate her.  She finds her own way to get things done and is very smart.
I stay at home full time to care for my children.  Ever since Lucas started having medical problems I have suffered from depressed, and have been in a fog.  About a month ago I saw a special on Celine Dion and the level of dedication and upbeat personality she has towards life.  I guess you could say it spoke to me and made me really look at my own life.  About how I wanted to live it.  I started to listen to her songs daily, playing her CDs in the car on our way to appointments and found myself happy.  A feeling I have seldom felt in the last five years.  To say her songs have inspired me is an understatement.  I think it is partly the music but also knowing who the person is behind the music that inspires me most.  I have also started playing her music when I workout and have found that it helps me push through and dig deeper than I ever thought I could.  I don't think even I can comprehend the difference having Celine's music in my life has made, but I hope it continues.
I will most likely never meet the woman who has inspired me but I hope to continue to hear her music my whole life through.
Thank you from the bottom of my heart.

Hi Laura and :welcome_wave: to the FORUM !!! I'm sorry to hear about your children's difficulties, but I'm happy at the same time knowing that they're still fighting to live and enjoy life just like the rest of us. Life is so different to everyone, we sometimes don't understand why things happens to us and/or to our loves ones, but just like Celine said, it's up to us to choose how are we gonna get through it  Hope everything gets better, and I'm happy to know Celine has changed your life just like she did with mine. See you at the discussions :bye1:

Thanks for all the welcomes.  This has been a wonderful journey for me.  I never realized how my mood affected my kids and they are so much happier along with me now.  I am still playing and of course singing along with Celine's songs daily and my kids are joining in and loving it.  Celine has so much feeling in her music and life that it is teaching me how to feel as well.  I had closed my heart and hid my feelings long ago to help me cope with the constant bullying I experienced during my school years.  When I sing Celine's songs now I get so into it I laugh, love, and cry along with her.  It is amazing all the emotions that come from singing.
my whole family sings and it is something that I have always loved doing but I have always held myself back, not wanting to put myself through the heartache that can come along with being a performer.  Both my cousins are performers and they are so much more outgoing than I am, that I convinced myself I couldn't do it.  Now I am exploring it more.  I am building my confidence by singing Celine and loving it.

Well I am still discovering Celine's music.  just started listening to some of her french songs.  wow.  it is like hearing a whole different side of Celine, so much more emotion, and connection.  You can tell that singing in french is her true soul music.  I mean her English songs are great and exactly what most Americans want to here, but her french albums... wow.  that is the kind of music I love.  I wish I spoke french, but it is almost as if it doesn't matter if I understand the language because she puts so much into those french songs you don't need to know exactly what they say, you can just feel it.  It is amazing.
Now a funny story about my 4 year old daughter.  while most children in preschool say there favorite song is something like itsy bitsy spider, or twinkle twinkle little star, when my daughter's teacher asked her what her favorite song was she said "What Love is"  meaning the song from the "One Heart" album, "I know what love it"  I love this song and often sing it around the house.  I guess she has been listening.  She was almost able to sing the whole song to her teacher by herself.  so cute.
Both my kids often ask to listen to Celine CD's while in the car.  My son actually insisted the other day, while riding with grandma, that the music she was listening to(Jimmy Buffet) was definitely not as good as Celine.  Then he proceeded to ask her to turn it off and put in a Celine CD.  When she asked him which one, his reply was "any of them would be better that this."  So funny.

You took the words right out of my mouth. That is exactly how I feel about her French albums! They are certainly amazing work.   Have you heard about the new French CD coming out on November 5th?

Aww, cute stories. I love little kids!

Hi and welcome Laura! Hope to see you around the forum.

Thank you for sharing such a touching story of your family and how Celine is helping you through each day. I'm not a mother, but I can see the dedication that you invest in your children's lives... as you make yourself stronger, happier, and more confident. It's important to take time to look after ourselves, and like you said... your children will pick up on it and be the same. It is very cute that your daughter is able to sing the song to her teacher :)

Her French songs are definitely a favourite of mine - emotional, powerful and raw.
If you ever need suggestions for songs, I have plenty!

Hi Laura, I know it's been two years and your kids are growing up fast. I can't possibly speak to every point you have made, just that I agree with everything. I am completely blind. I was born with some soight, in summer 2012 I lost it ALL. Celine has really helped me in a life spent in total darkness. I love the story about your kids, I hope that continues for all of you. Have you heard the new album? I hope she continues to love you all back to life!
