Hey guys

So since Celine is on break right now and the first set of shows is done and we are waiting on her 2nd set to start.. Does anyone think they'll make any changes?  We all know that A New Day evolved over the years with set changes and song changes and warddrobe changes.. What do you guys think? Do you think they'll remove/add any songs? What would you like to see?

Id like to see Contre Nature but i know it's impossible... Maybe when the new album comes in they'll add some new songs into the setlist.

In my opinion, the weakest parts of the show are: Spinning Wheel, Overjoyed and LCMM/RDMH medley.    If these could be changed then I think the show would be almost perfect, even with all those covers!

I have to disagree completely!!! The LCMM/RDMH medley is the MOST exciting part of the show. When i first heard that she would be singing it again, i wasn't overjoyed (pun intended, haha), but seeing it live with the lights and lasers.... it's AMAZING. I have seen the new show countless times and the LCMM/RDMH part is the most exciting, i can feel my heart rate speed up!! <3

I understand it is the only real up-tempo part of the show, but her LCMM performances have become soundchecks, and RDMH has never been the same since the amazing AND shows.   If she sang these songs properly again, then it would be fine!!!

Yes I agree, Spinning Weel is too long IMO! It feels like it goes on and on and on...  

I'm not such a big fan of Overjoyed either, tho Céline clearly loves it!

I kinda have to agree with the LCMM/RDMH medley, it was cool in 2007, awesome in 2008, but now it's getting a bit old. I'd rather have her performing DOL in full and then go to LCMM/MHWGO

AND I still think it's best to have a little quiet song at the end of the show, like WAWW was...

I do hope that when the new album is finally released, she'll add at least three songs. IMO these can go then: ABM!!!, "Ben" & "Man In The Mirror", Overjoyed.

Swap the current french song for the one her mum first wrote her, change At Seventeen for Then You Look At Me, Love Can Move Mountains for Thats The Way It Is, and in my opinion that would be AMAZING!

And I agree she should sing River Deep the way she used to like 2007-2009.

I do agree also that a nice quiet song is needed at the end, but with all the money and time put into My Heart Will Go On at this show, I doubt they'd leave this song second last for another song at the very end!

My Heart Will Go On has gotten fans tired of it but it is still her biggest hit to date so not having it at the very end would be weird and it's always much better to end on a BANG than a whimper, which is why a quiet song as ending wouldn't make sense. In my opinion, of course lol

I actually would love to see this show, not because the concept interest me, but because I have never seen Celine in Vegas. Ever. I live too far away (it's expensive to go to Vegas from Australia).

Anyway, I just thought I'd add my two cents on the topic even though I've never seen the show... lol...

I was really impressed by the footage I saw in the OWN documentary, so I'm one of the people who actually likes the current setlist. I can't think of anything I'd want to change, except that I'd love it if there was more than one French song. To me, her voice sounds more beautiful in her native language.

Maybe I'm weird () but I'm also one of the people who think My Heart Will Go On should stay. I have never actually seen it in concert (only on DVDs), and the lyrics have a deeply personal meaning for me.

Oh, I would love it if she played A New Day Has Come, because that song means a lot to me as well, but I don't think that will happen.

I think changing Seventeen with Then You Look at Me would be perfect, instead of singing the current french song having Ce n'était qu'un rêve instead would fit well and overjoyed needs to go.. its a cool idea with the hologram and all but they could easily add Tell Him and get Barbara for a hologram or The Prayer with Andrea..  I think the end of the show is perfect.  LCMM/RDMH are a good ending, dissapointed they dont actually do a full DOL.. and of course MHWGO will always end the show.. would be nice to have a little quiet song at the end though like WAWW for A New Day...

I think the show is just great though and whatever they do it'll still be great.  She could stand there all night and sing out of the phonebook and id be happy

I sure hope they make some changes.... For me, I'd love it if they dropped about 10 songs and had her just perform the rest of them in their full length in an unedited arrangement. All these "drop the second verse and chorus and do a half assed 3 minute version" is really bugging me. I'd rather see her do three songs in their entirity, then see her rush through 5.... She isn't giving justice to the songs by doing it this way... If you take out all the covers, all the lipped parts, all the shortened songs...you are left with... ZERO songs.. as a fan, that is such a waste.. TCWT had RDMH/LCMM/The Prayer/My Love/Fade Away/PQTME and a few others.... AND had ATW/IA/Seduces Me/RDMH/TFTEISYF/IIC/HYEBIL and others throughout its run....and yes, I know some of these such as TFTEISYF and IIC were covers, but they also have some recognition with Celine as well, unlike a song like Lullaby which was never on an album.

So that is one criticism... of course, they'll never just remove 10 songs and have her add a bunch of second verses.....that's fine. But they can remove a few..
- Lullaby - This is just ridiculously boring. She recorded an entire album of baby songs. Let's hear one of those. But more importantly, how about something slightly up-tempo and with a meaning that can apply.... "A New Day Has Come" would be great. Not one of my favorites, but it'd be nice to hear.

- Spinning Wheel - Cut it down a bit, and add "If You Asked Me To" after the Bond songs... if they have to make room for this, cut out Nobody Does It Better/Live And Let Die... they're boring as well.

- At Seventeen - I'm yawning as I type this... how about "That's The Way It Is" ....sure, the performances of this song have almost always sucked. They've lowered it 2 semitones because of the ending being pretty high...but she did it in the original key once in 2002, and it was near perfect. Not saying she has to do it in the original key, but maybe perhaps -1 instead of -2... Either way, the performances of this song never sucked because of her vocal limitations, rather because of the way she CHOOSES to sing this song, similiarly to the reason why both RDMH and LCMM suck these days...vocally she could sing either in a great way that does the studio version justice, but for both, she chooses to sing them like she is at a karaoke bar. If she'd put some effort into the performance, she could deliver flawlessly in all three songs.

- Overjoyed - What is the purpose of this? This is as random as Celine doing "Bad" about 25 years ago... She talks about all her duets...well, why not perform a hologram of one of her songs?!?!?! "Tell Him" , "Immortality" ...either would be a great choice.

- I Just Can't Stop Loving You ... When I heard she was doing this song in the MJ medley, I was quite excited. It's a song that is a duet also, but when she sang it in the rehearsal it was not a duet. Perhaps she could add this, but do a hologram feature and have Michael on the stage singing with her.

...and lastly...hate to open this can of worms...but the lipping is once again out of hand. Celine said in her documentary that she WANTED to "sing" the song The Reason. Well, mind telling me why she lips it then? I'm ALL for adding some random album-cuts, but if you're going to add a song that is hardly known amongst show-goers, let's at least sing it live. I have no justifications for lipping, but I can be a little forgiving over her lipping the songs she feels "forced" to sing, such as IACBTMN/TPOL/MHWGO ....but for a song that is not being forced upon her, it just makes no sense. If she doesn't want to sing it live, then don't sing it at all, because at this point the song has done all it can do for me.

I personally love "The Reason", its one of my favorite songs.. but its dissapointing knowing that she is lipping or using a backtrack when she performs it..

I love the fact she has a steady place to perform all of the time in Vegas, but the downside is that the show is designed for the general public and a Vegas audience and not for her fans.. People know Celine for her big hits.. and all the songs in this show like At Seventeen, Overjoyed, Spinning Wheel, The James Bond Medley, and whatever else that are covers are great and the show is great, but for a fan.. its a bit of a dissapointment..

hopefully they are smart with this time off and make changes.. guess we'll see what happens..

I get the impression that they were  "playing it safe" as they weren't sure how popular her 2nd show would be, whether it would live up to the high standard of AND.  The economic situation forced them to half the number of shows to 70 a year, and it seems the setlist ensures they have demand for these 70 performances.  From a business point of view, it makes sense to appeal to a wider range of audience, as there are lots of tourists in Vegas, the majority are not fans and do not go there just to see a "Celine" show.  But from a fan point of view, it's disappointing that she's not singing as many of her own songs.

As for The Reason, I also think it's a shame it's lipped, but I would rather she lipped it than not include it in the show at all, as it's very refreshing to have an old song back amongst the same old hits and covers in the setlist. It's undoubtedly one of her best songs, and it was a top 15 hit in the UK & Europe where it was released as one of the first singles from LTAL, so it's inclusion is definitely justified. While it may not have been a worldwide single, it has always been considered one of the main songs on LTAL after MHWGO. The song got an amazing reaction from the audience when I saw the show, so despite the playback, I still believe it adds another dimension to the show with the rock-edge and extremely powerful vocals. This song really gets your attention.

One of her best songs!?! Maybe you don't like the song in the first place. Of course everyone is entitled to their opinions, and everybody has different taste.But at least, Be Happy she is performing one of her own RARE song. I mean, she's covering like never before on this show and most of her own songs on the show have been performed thousands of time before. Let's be thankful rare songs like The Reason and WDMHBN are on the show!

Tyler: justification for lipping The Reason? The same for lipping All By Myself. I would hate it knowing she is belting the notes everynight, wasting her voice for an insignificant public. Sorry, but thats what it is. Thank God she is lip synching those hard songs in the desert! Let's have better quality albums, and quality live tv apperances.

Honestly, if you havent seen the show live - the videos dont do it much justice.

'The Reason' is AMAZING live, one of the best songs in the show.

'Ne Me Quitte Pas' I could take it or leave it, but it is a nice song to hear.

At Seventeen' is actually a really interesting song if you listen to the words and if fits her pretty good.

'Overjoyed' - well Ive always loved this song and I love hearing her sing it.

'Spinning Wheel' - It runs a bit long and could be shortened but, Barnev does it so well.

'LCMM/RDMH' - AMAZING! One of the best sets in the whole show, it really wouldnt be the same without it.

'Lullabye' - BORING! Im sorry, not an exciting song, it doesnt fit her, and no visuals on the stage really to back it up. Sorry.

'Mr Paganini' - ITS NOT CELINE! I really dont care for this song, its boring, its different, and something that other people (non fans) wont like.


The songs in italics, are really the songs that could be dropped. They could be replaced with "I Surrender", "Immortality", "Then You Look At Me" and even "PQTME". And what happened to "Im Alive"? In the program, it says that it was supposed to be in the show, but of course, it isnt! Why? Its such a great upbeat song, that really could be used to replace some of the boring ones.

Yeap I'd throw away a lot of (almost all) covers from this show but being realistic:

Guys you (who've seen the show) and we (who haven't) all will say that LCMM/RDMH part is the best because it's the only up-tempo - CHEERFUL part of the show! Come on, you can't deny it. And yes you can't deny it either that the ending LCMM/RDMH/MHWGO is just oooold. So, I'm for them as long as they are put in different parts of the show (especially MHWGO - which is the ending song almost from 2003 - not counting WAWW). I love the song, I'm not tired of it, and a Celine's concert wouldn't be complete without it. But it could be somewhere else (like CELINE wanted!). What's more, they rehearsed DOL so why don't refresh at least this old ending with adding it and shortening LCMM? or playing them all in full? It's possible and doesn't hurt!

As for the duets, exactly she has loads of them! Even If I Can Dream with Elvis would be much better than Overjoyed. It's just a song out of blue that really doesn't make sense (it has no conncetion with Celine)

Lullaby... again... I haven't pointed out yet my opinion about OWN documentary in its topic but I will put it hear first. Celine herfself said that the songs in the show in general are tooooo heavy and sad. And I totally agree! they are great songs, there's no doubt about it, but I though that they would come up with sth cheerful - just the way they came back with ANDHC. This show is great as far as singer's abilities are concerned but they don't reflect Celine's current mood I think. And for the lullaby itself. Ok it is nice but as you said she has her own baby songs so why don't use one of them OR a cover but a cheerful one that speaks about happiness not sadness. The songs' themes in the show are so depressing!

it is the same with ABM, NMQP, AS. They all have the same meaning more or less. Don't get me wrong, NMQP is performed amazingly but again they should either add another French song or just find another positive-themed song. I hope you understand what I mean

Spinning wheel is just so looooooooooooooooooooong. I really do have patience when I want to listen to sth but this song goes on and on and never ends. It's so boring! Ok again I agree Barnev does a great job but the song's choice is not the best one.

The Reason. Lipped or not it's amazing that they gave us sth old but new at the same time (not performed for a loooooooooong time).

Again in OWN's special they don't really speak about songs. Ok they did talk about TR, NMQP or Paganini but they didn't say which songs they also considered (and even rehearsed) for the show, which they threw away, the MHWGO 'conflict' (about its place)

And I agree with Timster they playing it safe but not unveiling Celine's repertoir but her skills. It's good that they finally realised that she could deliver variety of songs but they could have chosen those of her own

I'm not asking for much (I'd love to but it's just impossible) but I'd like them to change the attitude of the show, make it more light, happy but at the same time deep. TTWII and ANDHC would be at least those two songs which should be added. Because this show presents that Celine's personal carred ended in 1997 and it's not true and it's a shame!

The Reason may be "mindblowing" ....but let's not forget that we pointed out that it is on a track. Once it's been played once, it's done it's job, and it can do no more for me. It's not like having 18 bootlegs of this "mindblowing" performance is going to make it even more prestigious or amazing.... At this point, there is no GROWTH in the performance. At least with LCMM and RDMH sucking and getting worse and worse in each performance, there is growth. You can differentiate one era to another in a performance. And with BYLM, even though it's so close to being identical that you don't see a ton of growth, you at least know it's genuine, and live...and that makes up for it. Afterall, a SINGER should be singing, shouldn't they? So basically, either do something to do the song justice, or throw it away. It's already old.

Though I'll give props for bringing back an older album cut. And Tim, I don't think your reasons are justified at all. I can find more reason to bring back Misled, or even HYEBIL, then I could this song, if you are just going off chart success. But like we've said, it's not all about charts....there have been plenty of #1 songs over the years that have faded into the distance, yet there are plenty of songs out there that did not go #1 that everyone seems to know of. (For example, I think everyone knows of Journey's Open Arms yet nobody knows of I'm Your Angel). Just remember - a hit is not a hit because of the success it has when it is released. It is a hit because of the legacy and rememberance it has 10 years later. And 10 years later, nobody cares. The only songs that get recurrent air play after there release seem to be BYLM, WDMHBN, TTWII, O Holy Night, MHWGO, TPOL, ABM, and I've even heard HYEBIL once or twice.

Tyler, The Reason may be the same on all these bootlegs, but for 99% of the Vegas audience it's the first/only time they hear it, so it doesn't really matter.  You mentioned LCMM/RDMH sucking - what if TR was live and that deteriorated over time?  We would then be complaining about that!   I guess there's very few songs we don't complain about for one thing or another...

I wasn't trying to justify the song purely on it's chart positions, I was just trying to say it's always been a very popular song, a "fan favourite" ever since it was released.   (I just made the chart reference to hint that the song may please the European fans, just like how TLYM was allegedly for the Asian fans in AND).  Of course I understand that chart positions don't judge whether a song is a hit or not - just look at all the songs in Celine's TCWT French concerts. Some of her most popular songs, but half of them were never properly released as singles, so never charted at all.

Guys wheres the proof she is lipping all these songs as ye say she is? Id just like to see the proof rather than just believing yer word on it. I dont doubt she may do it for some songs (the robot songs), and i dont blame her. But like where is the proof she is doing it in the reason? unless you are at every single show, how can you tell. how can you be so sure

We have several bootlegs from the show, and The Reason is identical in every recording.   It's impossible for Celine to sing a song so many times and not do SOMETHING slightly different, so we are pretty sure that everything except the very end of the song is pre-recorded.

The proof is in the recordings. There are bootlegs from 20 some shows now... simply compare them. If you're looking for proof in the form of an official statement, or blunder, then you're not likely to find them. The only "proof" we have in that is:
- IDAN at Vienna in 2008
- Man In The Mirror at the 3/10 Rehearsal (Very interesting because when the track goe sout we can hear her singing under it)
- A statement from Mego or someone shortly before she sang "Simply The Best" on a TV show where they said they're "currently in studio recording the track" ...

Other than that, there isn't really anything that I can think of. She is pretty consistent in it all, so comparing the tracks isn't difficult.
