It would be greatly beneficial to have a topic set aside for what we KNOW about the Vegas show.  There will be a lot more answers over the next couple of months, obviously, since the show is going into rehearsals.  But I would like to have all of what we know in one topic.  No guesses….no "I hope this happens…"….just the facts.

I don't think there are a lot of facts we can say we know about the show besides that's it's going to be in Vegas a for three years period. A few weeks ago it was supposed to be a Hollywood-theme based show and look how it ended. Well, I believe we have to wait a little longer to get more info.

What have you not been convinced about? The fact they were rehearsed does not mean they will end up in the show.... it's a fact though that they were rehearsed as clearly seen in that video with Mego.....

Yes, the creative team exists out of: Céline, René, Ken Ehrlich, Denis Savage, Yves Aucoin, Mego and Philippe Dunnigan. The latter also being the leader of the string orchestra.

That's what I meant. I mean, it's not because they were rehearsing it that it was going to be in the show. I think that it would be kind of weird if they would be in the show now because you would think that they'd want to keep the surprise!

She also rehearsed the "Radio Remix" version of "A New Day Has Come" for "A New Day..." as well.  I seriously hope we get to hear/see at least a couple of rare/rareish (not a word, I know - LOL) songs in the new show.  Anyway, that's a topic for an entirely different thread.  This thread is for things we know.

I know!!!  It's very strange.  

I mean -- the first time around was different because she had not proven herself as far as Vegas was concerned.  Whereas now she has shown that she can sell-out a venue day-after-day, year-after-year in one city.  

So, keeping that in mind, there's not a need for as much publicity.  But there's hardly been any!  And I honestly believe it's because they still are in the early stages of figuring out what the show is….and then comes the marketing.  

I hope that by late January, we'll start to have some solid information.  They need to build up some HYPE!!!

But we DO KNOW that the Oprah cameras were filming at Celine's house a while ago.  So, even if they are focusing more on the twins, they will at least touch on the Vegas show…which is some promotion.

Yes,  I agree. "Taking Chances" can sell more than 3 million copies wordwide without any single tv ad!!

I saw the first somewhat promotional clip last night for the first time the commercial is for Caesar's palace but yous see a clip of Celine from the Taking Chances tour making people believe it's from the new show. I'm ready to see what she does cause the woman is full of surprises!

Au cours des derniers mois, le concept a encore changé pour inclure les grands succès de Céline Dion avec un tiers d'autres chansons connues, à une ou deux exceptions près, mais qu'elle interprétera pour la première fois. «On trouvait important qu'elle se fasse plaisir et qu'elle chante ce qu'elle a envie de chanter», explique le directeur musical Claude Mégo Lemay qui a travaillé avec la chanteuse jusqu'à quelques jours de son accouchement.

Céline Dion sera entourée de 31 musiciens dont son groupe habituel dirigé par Mégo, et des sections de cordes et de cuivres. L'idée du grand orchestre s'est vraiment imposée lors du spectacle sur les plaines d'Abraham en août 2008. Le percussionniste Paul Picard est de retour, après avoir cédé sa place à Nanette Fortier, et la chanteuse Mary-Lou Gauthier sera remplacée par Dawn Cumberbatch qu'on a vue récemment avec Daniel Bélanger. Les répétitions avec Céline Dion commencent ces jours-ci en Floride. Ce sera la première fois que les cordes, dirigées par Philippe Dunnigan, et les cuivres vont jouer avec le groupe de Mégo. Tout ce beau monde va se retrouver à Las Vegas autour de la Saint-Valentin pour répéter dans le décor du Colosseum.


La direction artistique du spectacle a été confiée à Ken Ehrlich, le réalisateur de longue date de la cérémonie des Grammys qui a signé quelques émissions spéciales de Céline Dion à la télé américaine. C'est lui qui l'a invitée à participer à un hommage à Michael Jackson l'an dernier. «Même s'il travaille pour la télé, il a une culture musicale. De tous les metteurs en scène avec qui nous avons travaillé, c'est celui qui est le plus proche de notre univers», commente Mégo.

Un spectacle élégant

Contrairement à A New Day, le nouveau spectacle ne misera pas sur la danse et le cirque façon Franco Dragone. Fini la scène inclinée qui a donné des maux de dos à la chanteuse. «On a dépensé plus de 40 millions sur le premier spectacle, cette fois ça sera un peu moins, je pense, indique John Meglen président du producteur AEG Live. Ce sera un spectacle élégant. Céline n'a pas besoin de faire un autre spectacle inspiré du cirque, mais ça sera un spectacle qu'on ne pourra voir qu'à Las Vegas.» Gary Selesner, président du Caesars Palace, renchérit: «À Las Vegas, il faut que les spectateurs aient le souffle coupé, qu'ils retournent chez eux en disant à tous leurs amis: allez voir ça! On m'a donné un aperçu de quelques-uns des moments forts du spectacle. Rien de tel n'a jamais été tenté.»

Ken Ehrlich connaît Céline Dion depuis le début des années 90. Ce qui en fait une artiste à part, dit-il, c'est sa confiance en elle et le fait qu'elle adore être mise au défi et prendre des risques. «Le spectacle précédent était plus grand que nature, le premier à marier le cirque avec une tête d'affiche. Cette fois, Las Vegas connaît mieux Céline et Céline est plus à l'aise à Las Vegas. Il faut qu'il y ait un facteur wow! mais ce n'est pas nécessaire d'avoir 40 danseurs sur la scène et des gens qui volent dans les airs. On veut montrer combien Céline est une grande artiste et, franchement, ça ne ressortait pas toujours dans le spectacle précédent parce qu'il se passait tellement de choses autour d'elle.»

Le grand écran de A New Day sera encore utilisé, mais il n'aura pas un rôle aussi dominant, promet Ehrlich qui parle de nouvelles trouvailles technologiques et souligne l'apport de l'entreprise montréalaise Moment Factory au chapitre de la vidéo. Aucoin et Savage veulent surtout exploiter l'immense scène du Colosseum, qui fait quatre fois la superficie de celle du Centre Bell. «Céline m'a dit: «Je ne veux pas de gimmick», raconte Aucoin. Quoi qu'on fasse, on ne surpassera jamais la puissance de cette femme-là. On essaie juste de rendre ça intéressant autour d'elle.»

It is staggering how little is actually known about the show to be honest. They made SO much noise prior to "A New Day..." that you couldn't miss it wherever you looked.

This time, although I'd be happy with "just" a Celine Dion concert with an orchestra, it seems they are not willing (or ready) to share any further details about this show.

Makes it all very exciting for premiere night.
