That song was better when it was called Let Me Be Your Soldier. I still call it that and it's track 19 on my Taking Chances album in iTunes. :giggle:

Just thought I'd start a separate thread so we don't clog up the album thread. This song makes me want to cry for her!  It's probably one of the most real English song's we've had from her in a while and I'm so happy to see that finally.  You can definitely hear the sadness and emotion in her voice throughout the entire song.  And the orchestra....very well done!!  This is going to be emotional to see/hear live for sure!

I am totally in love with this song. It's such a deep and intimate message. Celine just opens up her heart through the lirics. Yes she is strong and is moving on  with her life as she should be, but at the same time it is still very hard for her. I find it so incredible that people actually ask when will she stop with the
mourning? My answer would be the minute you learn how to erase or delete more than 21 years of your life. Well I guess people are just clueless!

It is a grower for sure.

And I agree with everyone saying that the refrain is the weakest point.

But The verse are amazing really. She is really telling us something. Her phrasing here is really something new. She never had such a connection in English. In songs like Didn't know love for example she is still doing a lot of voice effects. Some are marvellous for sure, but it is here to accentuate this raw, folk, acoustic vibe. Here, nothing about voice effects, just about the phrasing. That is really something new.

We are still close to what she is used to do, ballads, but I think that I never heard that much modernity in her voice than in this song. The way she sings it in the verse is way more modern than Lying down for example, even Imperfection.
