well the real reason for this release is because gloria's contract with sony is now finished and this is the usual thing that they do with other artists. There are various other artists that Sony have released 'The Essential' so it's not something that gloria chose to do, Sony are doing it to just milk as much money as possible now that her contract is finished. I expect the same will happen with Celine too.

Ohhh, I really like Gloria.

I think she's a remarkable singer - she makes my head start bopping when I listen to my iPod at work!

I was in Miami last year, and one of her concerts was scheduled for two days after my flight back to the UK!

I was very upset I didn't get to see her!

i got to see and meet gloria few times in the past 2 years when she was doing various concerts around the world. i had great time seeing her in belfast, london, madrid, zaragoza , barcelona, tenerife, toronto and foxwoods in CT!!!!  She always has time for her fans and never seems to act like a diva.

yep that's me and glo in my profile pic. It was taken in madrid 2007 after a concert.
As for the London concert, it was in Sept 2008 but there was barely any promotion at all, no wonder you didn't hear anything about it.  it was most likely due to the fact she had no single or album to promote as the previous one had already been out for 14 months.

but you should join the facebook group 'gloria estefan official website' and then you would be informed of any upcoming concerts, so far she has nothing scheduled for this year but that could change.
