It's always a nice treat when Celine breaks out of the routine of her shows. In Vegas, for example, she got stuck in the night-to-night routine. And who can blame her? 5 nights a week of the same songs! It seemed like she was just sort of coasting along at times. She has even said in interviews that she couldn't wait to just get through the show as fast as possible to get home to her son and husband.
The same goes for the Taking Chances world tour. It seemed that, after a while, she just started to coast along with the shows. And got sucked into the routine of it all. I went to the Nashville/Birmingham/Atlanta shows…and while I adored all three shows, the only one she really seemed fully present at was the Birmingham show.
She was much more talkative at that show:
Celine's Birmingham Speech
I just felt an honest difference in her presence in Birmingham. And I've seen Celine perform many times: in the 90s, in Vegas (a few times), and for this most recent tour. But out of ALL of those times, it was only once that I felt she was fully engaged. So I just wonder, out of all of her performances - I wonder how many she actually felt fully present?
It's just an interesting observation.

She mentioned that on her biography, that sometimes she felt like the "singing robot" were was wasn't really there... I can't blame her, honestly I did see the robot in the TC DVD...I mean she looks great, sound great, but she seams..."off" (Watch the memphis concert or the Live Paris one)...she IS having fun and enjoying herself, intead on the TC DVD she, well, needs some "soul"
Maybe I'm wrong I don't know...but I know what you mean when you say that she is always the same with the same rutine

You also have to watch the Ottawa speech, in november, it's the best she ever did!
At the end of the tour, she was way more natural!

She was really fully there when she was in Montréal and I'm sure in Japan and South Africa too. I noticed that on the DVD for the show in Boston, before ML, she doesn't seem to be enjoying herself but after, it seems much more fun and natural. It's understandable that she won't feel like it every night too since she does do so many shows.

Merci Céline pour ces deux soirées inoubliables que j'ai passées à tes côtés. Je ne les oublierais jamais.
J't'adore Céline.
Merci.

yeah it's weird, I think she was way less robotic pre America's, her voice was much better too, but she loosened up a lot in the America's aswell! it's contradicting!
A fun 'off the routine' I experienced, was the "Il n'y a pas de soleil' song in Arras!

those are the best celine moments, bursting out into another song wich is not hers... ;-)
and talking about being a robot, also in For Keeps she mentions that when she is 'off' with her voice and thinking she didnt deliver her best, we the fans are much more enthusiastic, then when she is hitting the high notes etc etc

I suppose she has a few off nights, but she delivers her best most of the time.

YeH I have always noticed that...she was like that in Vegas every time I saw her! Loved every moment of it, but my favorite parts were when she had some bloopers! Or came off of the usual script!
SO an actuality I really paid just to see her mess up!
LOL Gotta love her!

Well, I'm extremely fortunate then since I was there on July 7th.
You can't blame her, she worked her heart off, what else could she do? Plus, no one expected people to come to the show many times. If you hadn't, you would've heard it only once.

I think Celine is usually in a good mood when she does shows on tour, but I'm sure it gets repetitive, and when the crowd is being lazy or they aren't really being involved it probably looses some luster, and when the crowd did that in the intro for 'My Love' [[boston]] she seemed to loosen up more and smile real smiles more, etc. In Vegas, I think that it was repetitive and grueling in alot of ways so it probably wasn't always fun.
Also, when she is singling live, it's probably more fun for her anyway, she can react more, because she isn't laughing while the background says "love" haha! I think it all depends on how her voice is that day in her mind, how she feels [her body and mind] [rested, tired, crappy, pms, etc] and how the crowd is reacting to her. She says when the energy comes in she can dish it right back out but when it isn't coming in i'm sure it's more of a drab.
