He's been a fan of Céline for a long time I think. I'm pretty sure it's him on this vid of an interview Céline did on TVA with Claire Lamarche in 1992. Céline had a very bad cold that day but was very gracious answering fans questions. I recalled seing him on that show.(sometimes our mind keeps unimportant images I guess.)
Just watch at 3:56, Bernard asked Céline a question. You can see him better, for a longer time at the end at 6:05(when he reminds Céline of their 30 sec. duet Céilne did with him Acapella after her show at the Capitol in Québec city). She remembers him and he's very thankful, starstruck and happy. He actually talks about that in his youtube vid to Céline(their Capitol 30 sec. Acapella duet of BATB down the stairs).
Anyway he made the news some years ago because of his unusual ways of wanting to make it in the music biz. That guy has been selling his cds and show tickets over the years one by one by himself. He pays for the venue himself and than sells his tickets. He wears a t-shirt with the venue on it and he scratches seats when sold. He has done one at Québec's capitol, Place des Arts in Montréal, in Toronto and now in Chicago(where he made a youtube vid asking Oprah to come to his show). I guess Oprah's people saw that and they sent Oprah's friend Gail to meet the guy. As you all know Oprah likes to make people's dream come true so she invited him to her show. That's how the guy landed on Oprah's show recently! He got a music contract since and he did his Chicago show last night.
Now it appears his next dream is to sing again(more than 30 sec. this time) with Céline!
P.S. I feel the same as you JP about the duet. Don't think it will happen.

Quebecer Bernard Lachance is used to taking chances -- and making it
By MARIE-JOELLE PARENT -- Sun Media
CHICAGO -- "A star is born."
Those four words could be overheard as Bernard Lachance's newest group of fans exited the Chicago Theatre on Saturday.
For those who might not have heard of him, Lachance is a 34-year-old singer from Montmagny, Que., who sells his own records and concert tickets on city sidewalks. One by one. He's been doing it for the last 15 years, hitting everywhere from cheesy Quebec shopping malls to tour buses in Times Square to sell tickets to his shows.
He has performed at major venues like The Capitole in Quebec City, the Bell Centre in Montreal (5,000 seats) and Massey Hall in Toronto in 2007.
This latest adventure began last fall when he convinced New York-based MSG Entertainment to rent him the Chicago Theatre for a one-night engagement. This proved to be no easy feat, one that saw Lachance flying to Chicago in order to persuade them to let him use the venue. Nobody had done this before. He paid $18,000 just to reserve the theatre, which was exactly the amount of cash he had left in the bank.
Then began the task of selling the $40 tickets.
He began accosting anyone and everyone on the streets to try and fill as much of the 3,500-seat theatre as possible.
Lachance was both bold and determined. He posted a video on YouTube March 21 asking Oprah to come to his show. Everyone thought he was crazy, but the clip received 173,000 hits.
But he soon realized that probably would never happen. In addition to no response from Oprah, tickets to the show were not selling well and Lachance was predicting that "it was going to be a total flop."
But it all changed one Friday afternoon when a big black SUV carrying Gayle King, Oprah's best friend, showed up. King invited Lachance to appear on the famous talk show.
"I knew it would work," he said shortly before his show. "I knew in my heart she would come. I cried so much. It was like 15 years of hard word rewarded. I was saved."
On May 6, Lachance made his debut on the show watched by almost 6.3 million Americans. He got almost 20 minutes of airtime and got to sing, though he had trouble hiding the emotion in his voice during the performance. In the days following his appearance, he sold 1,500 more tickets.
Fast forward to Saturday's show, and the pressure was on. Several TV producers from New York made the trip to see his performance. They couldn't have been disappointed. Lachance received many ovations during the show.
"We love you Bernard," cried many audience members. "Thank you for coming!"
Though it wasn't a perfect performance -- there were a few uncertain, tentative notes during the set -- Lachance's charisma and his child-like spirit more than made up for any little mistakes he made at the famous theatre where Sinatra once performed.
With all of the stress he's been under in the last weeks and a serious, last-minute dental problem, Lachance could have cracked like Susan Boyle. But he didn't.
Arriving on stage in a chic, black, Brooks Brothers outfit, he said: "The first time that I came here to reserve the theatre it was Nov. 4, the day (Barack) Obama won. I chose the right city."
(Note: talking about Obama in Chicago is a very good idea.)
While a hesitant Lachance was drowned out by his orchestra during the first song, The Impossible Dream, he quickly gained confidence as the show progressed. He then presented his famous floor-plan T-shirt -- Lachance always has a T-shirt with the layouts of his venues on hand, and he allows fans to cross off their seats -- to his number one fan, Toronto's Diana Remstak.
While his English wasn't perfect (he learned the language by watching Friends episodes non-stop), his effort to speak it charmed his audience.
"Those who thought you needed balls to rent the Chicago Theatre and sell one by one the tickets on the street are now confused," he joked after singing a few very high notes.
During the show, he asked a man in the front row to film him on stage while making an impassioned plea to convince Celine Dion to sing a duet with him. The video has already made it onto YouTube, entitled "Message for Celine Dion by Bernard Lachance."
Why not? This master of self-marketing continues to prove that nothing is impossible.
