I just got home from Indy a couple of hours ago and had to tell my "Celine moment" to everyone. Indy is the second time I have seen Celine. I saw her on Tuesday in Chicago in nosebleed seats and felt like I was watching one of her videos on a big screen TV. Yesterday, I had saved all summer for 6th row seats in Indy. I was in F7. Of course when the show began EVERYONE stood up. That lasted about 20 seconds. I stood there mesmerized, she was singing directly to our side, the short end of the stage, the end where the minority of the people were. I stood there and recorded the IDAN and POL completly, simply in awe for almost 8 minutes. UNTIL, the guy NEXT to me grabs my arm and forceably tells me I have to sit. I can't stand. I told him I have to stand, when Celine goes to any other part of the stage you can't see her. I paid $500 to see Celine, NOT a video screen. I "agreed" to stand at the back of the seats which was actually better because I could see the whole stage, dance, video at my will and be noticed. That of course means by Celine. There was a group of girls to my left who had chosen to do the same which Celine was obviously grateful of since NOBODY in the stadium would stand unless she asked. My heart hurt so bad for her, she was trying so hard, with all her heart and energy to get people to do SOMETHING and it just wouldn't happen. I'm sure there were plenty of people like me who WANTED to dance with her but were bombarded and ridiculed if they did. What is wrong with this world? Don't we live in America? Maybe that is why Celine always reverts back to her hometown, it's embarassing to watch her pleading eyes but people who don't really "know" her don't realize their hurting her.
Anyway. I had a moment. I don't know what song it happened to, I think the end of SOL. She ended up finishing the song again to the back of the stage and she extends her hand, thumbs up, head tilt to the right, staring straight into my eyes and gives me the thumb pump with a wink. I do the same right back to her, kinda in slow motion. For a moment, it fells like Celine and I are in the stadium together, alone and you can't hear a sound. Her eyes are sparkling and looking right through me. I thought she would never look away. Then, it was over. She turns around and begins singing, I think, Fade Away. There is a picture, Sarah took it in one of the replies earlier where Celine is doing this exact jester. I think this might be a photo of my moment. I would love to have a copy of it. Please e=mail it to me if you do.
I'm sure a lot of people had moments last night. I'm not the only one. My heart cries for her. I think she is tired of trying so hard and people remaining indifferent in our american audiences. It happened in Chicago also. It is mentioned in both reviews of these concerts. If anyone talks to Celine please let here know we love her as much as always it's just that many Americans have become afraid to have emotions and especially to show them.
She ended leaving on my side. She left so fast. I was able to get her attention. I told her, "Thank you." She looked at me, waved and mouthed, "Merci" with her right hand on her heart. Then she was gone.
I had a very lucky night. I'll never forget it. So sorry you couldn't have been there Ashley.

I wrote about that "moment" at the Indy concert. I found it, it's recorded. It happened at the end of Alone. It's all there, the arm extended, the thumb, the wink the head tilt to the right and of course the smile. See that sparkle in her eyes! BEAUTIFUL! Will someone send it to me? You can reach me at j.coale@mchsi.com
Thanks, Julie

Yay! I told you she might exit on your side, I'm glad you were ready for it, and you got words out!!! For your first close encounter, that is impressive! I'm so happy for you!!!
I don't understand making people sit down. You come to a concert to dance and have a good time, not to mention you can't see very well when you're on the floor unless you stand up - and like you said none of us pay that kind of money to watch a TV screen. What's the deal?
I wish I could have been there too, but I'm so happy that you got two Céline moments that you can cherish forever.

Has she ever talked about whether it bothers her when people don't get up and dance? I know she likes it, but I hope it doesn't upset her too much when people don't. I think different people just experience concerts in different ways. When I saw her, I gave her standing ovations and clapped a lot, but the rest of the time I was sitting still- not because I don't love her, and I didn't mind if other people danced- I just felt I was able to observe more and take it in better if I was just sitting and watching. So I just hope that kind of thing doesn't offend her.

Oh! How lucky are you?!? I bet that was amazing! I wish I'd been there that early, too! I bet her soundcheck is even better than the actual concert, because it would her playing around with that amazing voice ~ something that we never get to hear recorded! Lucky you!

I dont know what to say about the whole standing up issue. I havent been to a Celine show since Vegas in 2005. All my shows will be in January and now I'm a bit nervous. I must say I believe there is a difference in the fan who is sitting trying to take everything all in and then the people who just thought it would be cool to go to a concert sometime. Those people don't care if Celine is busting her tail to get people to interact... but i bet she can really see the excitement and magic in the eyes of those who are sitting in complete awe. She feels us.
But, when I go to my concerts, I'm tempted to just stand up and scream at the top of my lungs "come on everyone, stand up, you're at a concert, HAVE FUN"
I mean, you can't be scared to not see anything unless ur on the floor, all the other seats are raised for a reason.. People do look bored in all the pictures I have seen with the crowd in the background.. Its like a party but no one is in the mood. =( C'mon, atleast smile!!!
I am SUPPOSE to be meeting her in a meet and greet that I won in January at the Miami show. I am almost tempted to tell her, "ya know, if not everyone stands, or dances with you, if not everyone sings along or seems to take in every breath, theres no need to worry because the real fans will love you enough for every single person in the arena!'. BUT... maybe she doesnt care, maybe she's having fun and she sees others having fun too and thats all that matters. Thats the problem with coming to other people's home, you're going to have those people who just came out for something to do, but then you have those who couldnt make it to vegas and these concerts are IT for them.
Just keep loving and supporting, she knows us hard core fans are forever...
Wonderful Celine moment! Love you all
sorry for ranting
Thankful for these moments with Celine...

The soundcheck in the lobby by the elevators while waiting for them to let the VIP's in (and others) before 6:30p.m. I couldn't understand why the Celine track they were playing was skipping. What a surprise! A soundcheck! This just adds to my favorite night ever. No wonder nobody was invited to her soundcheck. In Celine's famous tradition, EVERYBODY WAS!!!
Celine remains a women who will go down in history!

Just wondering if someone out there knows if it's common for Celine to broadcast her soundchecks? While waiting for the ropes to let the VIP's (and other special arrangements) in, while waiting in the lobby at the front of the elevators of the main lobby, you could hear Celine playing over the load speakers. It wasn't so loud though, kind of like a record skipping. For 1/2 hour we listened to a soundcheck over the rustling of the freezing crowd. I had read that no one was invited to the soundcheck. Even those with "special arrangements." In actuality, in Celine's infanite and often not acknowledged graciousness she had invited EVERYONE to her soundcheck. It made the evening extra special!
Celine will go down in history for her never ending graciousness and ever giving heart.

If I got the chance to talk to her I would tell her I think you're the most wonderful human being in the world.
You know I had a lady poking my foot and yelling at me to sit down in Minneapolis.
It is really sucky that the stage is so darn high, but she needs room to get under the stage and change and rise up from it. It was very hard to sit there when the upbeat songs started I really was full of adrenaline and it was being bottled up and I let loose during Love Can Move Mountains big time and I stood back for her to see, but if I got in her way then, sorry lady Celine told us to get up so I'm doing it for me and her!
Dream #1 accomplished.
While singing a ballad the only time Celine looked at me was the time I had my sign up luckily!
She stretched out her arm palm faced up while singing with even more emotion in her eyes when she saw it, so it seemed like it was just for me at that moment.
Dream #2 accomplished with the extra bonus!
She came and left on my side. I went out 1 row, held up my sign and she stopped, held it herself,
and just looked at it with an awe expression on her face, stunned and amazed when she saw all the glitter!
She looked me in the eyes with those beautiful brown eyes of hers she was tuned into me at that moment and didn't look away, again her looking so emotional as I said with a sincere look on my face to her "It took me 5 hours to make this." (could have been more not sure)
She looked down and away very touched like maybe she wanted to cry then she HUGGED me!!!
She held me for more than just a moment She really took her time! I said to her while about to cry from the hug, "I love you so much!" Then that was it I don't think she said a word to me.
I was crying and saying omg all night with my heart racing and my mind in SHOCK from the unexpected hug and my eyes so sore from crying. I was ready to drop when I got home, but was so emotional I stayed up until 6:30 a.m.! Cried a little for a few days after. Sign and front row seat saved the day!
Dream #3 accomplished... Me at :13 NOT my video.
