Well the Canadian hot 100 is a new chart. It's the first time that Celine is on it.

It's funny guys, some of you comment that the song is doing good and some of you that the song is a flop.
The song is doing good at the stations where is played but is only a few of them, the song doesn't play at all the stations that could do now

It's funny guys, some of you comment that the song is doing good and some of you that the song is a flop.
The song is doing good at the stations where is played but is only a few of them, the song doesn't play at all the stations that could do now

what are they waiting for to do some huge promotion on radio stations? i am beginning to worry about the chart position.
they need a very different video, maybe it will make a buzz & help the song on the charts

Just joined this great forum. I've been reading posts for some time and now finally registered!

NEWS - I read earlier this week that chumfm.com (a very popular top 40 radio station in Toronto, Canada) had a survey about Celine's new single and people could vote on this great new single. And here are the results :
LOVE IT - 84%
LIKE IT - 8%
IT'S OKAY - 4%
DON'T LIKE IT - 2%
HATE IT - 2%
I'm glad I was listening to it today on the Internet - the host gave the results this morning on air and said "94% of voters like Taking Chances. So it looks like Celine is back!!!"
I had also mailed the music director a few days ago wondering why they were not playing the song yet (and that I had heard it only once at 4 am!!) and here's her answer on Sept. 21 : "You'll hear it regularly starting today ....  4 am was the first time ... good song! Thanks, Sue "

SO IT LOOKS LIKE TAKING CHANCES IS ADDED TO YET ANOTHER TOP 40 STATION.

I'm with Manilou. Too too early. Celine never gets the promotion that other artists do- we have all yabbered about this before- she's just not exciting enough. But people realise that she is talented and that that's a rarity- this is why we must have faith and realise the album will do very well indeed. Chill oh sweet children

Well that's awesome, that's the station that CD.com had everyone go and vote at.  Looks like we
all did a good job!!

Some of you here are way too impatient and negative, just relax and vote and request the song.  It'll go, it's a
very good song and has gotten lots of positive responses at radio.  It's only out around a week now, so give it
a chance.  If some of you are so quick to write it off as a flop what will non-Celine fans do???  Not every hit song
debuts in the top 10 - it's gotta be worked.

I think it's waaaay to early to consider "Taking Chances" a flop. For sure that it will make an impressive jump next week on the Canadian Hot 100, given that it's Top 10 on Canadian iTunes. Also, it will be a big debut on Billboard's AC chart next week, as it's one of the greatest airplay gainers. On the US iTunes store, it's moving up very slowly, and I strongly believe that the label should be promoting it a lot more, but we have to wait and see what happens when the video comes out and more radio stations add it. If you haven't bought it on iTunes, you should do it now!

These numbers are the total no?or is in one single day?They count for full weeks or they upload everyday?

I'm sorry but I don't want to be talking about how well Celine's new single is doing just in Canada.  Since this album was announced it appears Sony have been making a big deal of it around the world but as things stand just now it once again appears that they have backed off in terms of promotion.  

Where is the song in Europe? Celine's due in Europe in about 4 weeks yet the song hasn't been heard in the UK, France, Spain, Italy etc etc. the list goes on.  It has been heard at about 30 radio stations in the USA. 30.  What are Sony playing at?  Yes ok maybe it's only been "officially" serviced to radio this week and if that is the case I expect HUGE jumps on the charts next week.

Sony MUST promote Celine, she can't do it all herself! Help her song onto the radios AROUND THE WORLD Sony!!!

I'm sticking to my guns and reiterating that Taking Chances was not a good choice for first single.  However, I thought there would be some huge promotion behind it.  Thus far, nothing.  I'm starting to wonder about the following scenarios:

A) Sony has completely given up on Celine in which case she should dump their dumb asses (which I have been saying for, um, a zillion years now, but know she will never do)
they are waiting for her next break to unleash the media machine, which would be fabulous
C) they chose not to release the best single until she has more time to promote it
D) the same morons keep making the same wrong choices

In any event, this song will go nowhere without promotion.   I can already hear the responses that it was only "officially" released last week, but let's keep it real, the US market is huge and if she fails to capture it one more time, ADIOS...

PS. I know many of you like the song but after all these weeks, it still does nothing for me. I have been wishing for Celine to release "edgier" material for so long (ie refuse to dance, naked, aint gonna look the other way just to name a few).  This song however just don't do it for me

Celine will get played if the song is well liked.

A/C radio have a fantastic record with Celine they are not going to "all of a sudden" stop playing her. Top 40 will depend on how popular the song is. It seems well liked so far so fingers crossed

Sony will promote the album. They wont do everything we want but they will promote it. They usually do a HUGE promo campaign around release time. There is no point in them spending too much right now when there is no single or album in the shops to buy. Otherwise its a waste. They want HUGE first week sales and thereafter up until Christmas with a 2nd single in January / Feb to keep it going for the tour.

All they can do right now is wait for airplay to build up. Most radio stations know the music industry therefore know what songs are out and they will play it if they like it and have a demand for it. We can help by requesting but only so much. The video will also be out soon too...

I have every faith that Sony will give it huge exposure on release week. My only worry is that they do not keep up the momentum like what happened with ANDHC. They did a huge TV Special and successful (fairly) first single, BIG promo tour with Celine. They waited WAY too long to release I'm Alive and it was too dated anyway. Still, if she could sell anywhere near ANDHC in these times it would be awesome.
