more bad news : "taking chances" is going down 13 places in canada after only 3 weeks - all the way to 30

this song is going nowhere...and with sony's promotion by the time the album comes noone would even remember it

What did you expect?

Celine's biggest, most anticipated album in years and SONY:

- don't send the song to radio
- don't promote the song
- haven't yet released the video only 4 weeks before album launch

The song is of course going to struggle!

I am so upset and angry that I can't say it with words    how can be that posible in Canada??? We need a miracle here..
I'd like having Celine in front of me and say to her "Come on girl? What are you waiting for? You have fans and they need to be proud of you!" I don't think this is only Sony's fault, Rene is 67 years old, don't you think we need someone younger in here? I just can't see Britney at the top and Celine at 30 in Canada

I'm not so worried about Taking Chances being #30 on the canadian digital chart.  The important is that she's going to be #1 on the albums chart very soon.  And I guess the song will go high on the airplay chart too.

If this song does not reach POP, it will be considered a flop, no matter how well it does at AC.  The whole point behind this album, in my opinion, was to make Celine more relevant in today's market.  She could sell at AC without this change, um, adjustment, in musical direction.  So far, I don't think POP is buying it, in th US as well as Canada.  Point of comparison, Shitney's song is already at #14 on Canadian POP.

I don't think we can really compare a 15 year old tart with a mature "been-there" Celine. And I'm not sure if AC would have played Celine as much without this new direction. If you look at the last few ballads (ie. I Believe In You with Il Divo), that didn't do too well on AC... Overall, I think this new sound or image is very good for her career and future projects... either for music or acting... The good thing is that she's showing her versatility that we here know about, but the normal person out there doesn't know that YET...

I am not disagreeing with presenting a new sound which should have been done years ago.  For me it is the choice of material and the way it is been promoted (or not promoted).  I believe a song like I ain't gonna look the other way for instance could have had much more appeal... Remains to be seen what Sony has up their sleeve in terms of promo, but she needs all the help she can get to make it back to POP stations as evidenced by the non-response so far.  As much as I am not crazy about TC, I would love to see her make a strong comeback.  Maybe the video will help if it ever gets released!!!

PLEASE DONT TAKE THIS AS BEING CHEEKY. Canada and American are not the only places in the world and it seems that everyone is concentrating on these. A song is a success if people buy it and in europe its more about sales rather than radio to get into the charts.

Britney is higher because pop is her things, if celine released everything with a similar beat u would probably find she would be more successful in the pop charts, ull will find that most of the countries in the world have 1 chart for songs and one for downloads not 1 for every single aspect and when the single is release physically in these countried you will see it get bigger and bigger.

I also cant see why these DJS on radio seem to dictate what the listeners listen to, the amount of requests I have sent to radio in the UK and nothing has came of it.

CELINE doesnt need radio, her stuff is always a success on its own

MY OPINION ON PROMOTION: Celine is concentrating on finishing vegas but I think SONY are up to something hopefully special...there is no way that they would just leave her to her own devices with such a big release. WE NEED TO KEEP POSITIVE

And it is things like this that will make the song and album a sucess.

We know she has loads of appearences coming up some of which have now started. The e card is promotion, Billboard magazine reviews and all sorts......ITS ABOUT TO BEGIN
