Im so glad that the TC remixes are doing good in the Dance Club Play. Just sharing, I was at the Pieces Bar in Chelsea last weekend, and the DJ played this TC remix. The whole people inside went crazy about the song. The bartender was even singing to the chorus. Can you imagine that.

I'm not sure what chart you saw but according to billboard.com it is still at # 6! It is the updated chart with the issue date of Feb. 9th. Remember also that besides Timbalands One Republic, Celine's song is the newest within the top 10, so considering the other songs have been there much longer, Celine's position is nothing to be bummed out about.

I think it's the plan to release the new song when the special is aired... Let's hope so!
Taking Chances will probably remain #6 for a little while on AC charts in the US. The top 5 have been on the chart for over 25 weeks while TC has been on that chart for 19 weeks... So it will rise slowly... but by releasing a new  single now, TC will drop... Sony is probably waiting to make sure it's not rising anymore before releasing a new single... it's a catch 22 situation.

Someone posted that on Wikipedia EOM remix version will be released the day before the CBS special but this is not confirmed, so I think Sony DOES have a plan, and I agree with the post about Sony waiting to make sure that TC isn't rising anymore, releasing another single now will detract from TC, so it's a wise move to wait until TC starts falling and people lose interest with it to release the new single, regardless of what it turns out to be. I think the middle of Feb is a good time to do it unless TC is still climbing the charts by then. I DOUBT that only one single is going to be released.

I also doubt there will be only one single release, and they are just waiting to release EOM after the CBS special. Also, considering that TC is still doing well on the AC charts, they probably don't want to take away any of its "current strength" by releasing the single too soon. Also, "Taking Chances" slips from 1 to 8 on the Dance Club Play chart this week, and is replaced by Natasha Bedingfield's "Love Like This".

AC radio stations tend to play songs for a very long time. Even if they would release a second single right now it wouldn't hurt the AC airplay of ''Taking Chances'' much. And if it would, then it would be because they were starting to play the second single instead of ''Taking Chances.''
