For those who don't know, last year Ricky Martin released an MTV Unplugged special, both the CD and DVD were a big success that he started to tour again. (More info: http://wwwrickymartinmusic.com/ )
On Monday he came to South Texas. I didn't have the best seats, but his energy got everyone going!
Before the show the screens would post several montages of children and information about the Ricky Martin Foundation.
The show started around 8:45 and as soon as the techno music stopped and the lights went down the round everyone went CRAZY. He opened with "Pegate" then greeted everyone! He spoke in Spanish and said something like. "Tonight, nobody is going to feel judged, everyone is going to feel good. I hope you're ready to have a good time. This is the best of my music, and I hope you like it." Insisting that we all leave everything behind and have a good time! Then he just asked in English "How do you like it, in English or en espanol?" Spanish had the most screams, so he continued to speak mostly Spanish for the rest of the show. "Estamos en casa" (we're home) he said. He sang some more songs "She's All I Ever Had". Then he went to change, while he was changing, they had a video of him nude. Slowly the camera was going up and down his body, with animated body art and when the camera was zooming out showing more of his body everyone started to scream and you could see his entire body he was sort of meditating and his 'area' was in a shadow.
Eck, low quality.
He remixed some of his songs with Asian beats and Tribal dances, some of his dancers looked like they had walked out of Cirque Du Soleil during one of the songs, he changed a couple of times throughout the show into black shirts and white wife beaters.
The ballads were ORGASMIC! Everyone sang along to "Fuego De Noche, Nieve De Día" and "Asignatura Pendiente" it was really touching.
Suddenly he appeared at the top of the stage in white and "La Bomba" started:
During "Living La Vida Loca" he changed the lyrics from New York to Hidalgo, "Woke up in Hidalgo in a funky cheap hotel, She took my heart and she took my money", he also sang "La Copa de Vida". He said goodnight and left, the audience ... "otra, otra, otra, ricky ricky..." he came back for the Encore and sang "Tal Vez" ... :nlove: another popular ballad. Then he went on about how he was so thankful for everything he had. He sounded very spiritual throughout his entire speech then he closed with "Tu Recuerdo". I liked this song MUUUUCH better at the concert, On the CD he sings with this very ill sounding girl. I'm sure there are lot of things I left, sorry for this getting so long already!
I can't remember the exact order of the songs but here's a list in case anyone is curious.
