This really speaks to the music snobs around us. Just because they don't like her, they have prevented her from showing up at all. I don't like all kinds of music, but I still respect that others do.

I fully support Celine and Rene's decision for pulling the concert as there is NO way that if I was a performer would be going to a city that said the things they said about Celine to me.
To say that you're no longer a Celine fan showed that you weren't a big fan to start with because if you were you'd be disappointed but you'd also see the reason as to why they are no longer coming.

HALIFAX -- Halifax's reputation as a good host could be at stake. Celine Dion's husband says the Dion camp pulled the plug on the concert because the city didn't lay out the welcome mat.
"Even before the sale of 20,000 tickets, journalists have to write that it was a place for the Rolling Stones to rock, not Celine Dion," Rene Angelil told a French-language online newspaper.
"So if we are not welcome in Halifax, we won't come."
Just days after the singer's Aug. 23 concert was announced, their promoter cancelled it blaming the venue's shortcomings.
Uh Wow. That's a little bit more hostile and sour than I thought Rene could be. He's seems a mite upset, no?

I wish I could meet Rene in Vegas to tell him that I'm 100% behind his decision and that I fully understand.
I am from Halifax and I am ashamed of what has happened. Never have I seen this type of reaction... EVER

he is really frank and he's just speaking the plain truth...people and especially the media like he
said need to realize that they can't just say anything and get away with it, there has to be some
kind of back lash of course!!!!
that french reporter from radio-canada was really getting on my nerves repeating the same questions
and being all smug...they thought this was a joke and rene showed them and rightfully put them in
there place!!!

Can anyone make a copy of that interview. I'd like to save it but I don't know how to do it from that site.
Now if I could only meet Rene in vegas to tell him I support him.

I've heard a lot of people that because Céline sang God Bless America and plays in Vegas that now she belongs to USA. This is so insane.

i'll try my best to translate
this is after he's talking about if their feelings change next time about Halifax maybe they'll go, blah, blah...
then the french woman from radio-canada asks...
-'rene you were saying earlier that the media was negative towards celine, but in reality aren't you really
punishing the fans?
then rene replies
-'well there were many fans that were also negative not only the media. i have an article here that a young
lady said, readers post..readers forum, in the same journal that many reply to.."this past week i listened to call
after call"...(this is in english)(then he starts back in french again)...'it's not only the journalists but the media
started the first throw' if you will...
again the woman tries to chime in and rene rightly cuts her off again saying
-'starting with the first day of the annoucement, for me, for the first time i've never witnessed something like this
since i've been managing celine'...
the woman goes on to comment
-'isn't it true that an artist is always subjected to critism, not only celine...
rene interupts
-'excuse me madame, i've been in this business long enough and when i say, for 46 years..excuse me 41 years, i've never seen a reaction like this. you can't tell me..give me an example where an artist has ever gotten a negative reaction even before performing a show!
then she tries to put her two cents in and rene cuts in
-'if you can give me and incidence where that has happened, i'll agree with you..so this has yet happened!
then she asks
-'how can you explain this?...
then rene answers
-'i don't know how to explain, like i said before it's a question of feeling, and when you feel rejected or don't fit,
you just know and its simple as that'
then the balls of questions come hurling and that man interupts on with his useless questions
i don't feel like translating what that other radio-canda man was asking, what an #ss!
maybe some one else can give a try....

Do you think they would have planned another concert the day before if it was not possible to do so????? It's only a 2 hour flight from Quebec to Halifax. It's not like going to France and having jet lag and all that stuff. If it was about going to a small city, I think she wouldnt even have considered going to your city. She went to Jonquière in Quebec which is a city about 120 000 people at the peak of her career in the 90's during her world tour. It's clear that the real reason is about the reaction of the people and the medias. I agree with you that if the city is good enough for the Rolling Stones, it should be good enough for Celine too but it seems that the majority of people didnt agree with that.
I totally support René in that story. He's 100% right. I wouldnt go to some place where i'm not wanted. There is plenty of cities around the world wanting Celine and they wont be able to have her because she cant go everywhere. If you guys really wanted her to go to your city, you should have screamed louder than the one criticizing her. I feel sorry for you.
