I'm very upset that Celine has cancelled her performance here in Halifax.  Maybe its because she has a concert in Quebec City the day before or is it because she feels she doesn't have to come to a smaller city to make her fans happy?  I was a very big fan of Celine's. but this makes me so disappointed in her.  If this city was good enough for the"  ROLLING STONES" then I'm sure its good enough for you Celine.  Your loss.  Former Celine fan!!!!

Unfortunately the negative people in that area screamed louder than those who wanted her to be there. I don't blame her either, I wouldn't want to visit a place where the audience wasn't welcoming. It is a shame for those who really wanted to see her, and now can't in their home city.
This really speaks to the music snobs around us. Just because they don't like her, they have prevented her from showing up at all. I don't like all kinds of music, but I still respect that others do.

I am also a huge fan of Celine.  I am from Halifax and am very disappointed that Celine will not be coming.  However the way that the media and the public treated her is unacceptable.  There is absolutely no reason to have treated her the way that they have.  These people are selfish and have issues in their lives because it shows that they cannot be happy for others if they aren't.  I mean was it a big deal for them to say nothing and just not buy tickets.  I mean it was announced that there were other concerts coming this summer not just Celine.  So what's the big deal.  There was none really.  The small minded idiots in our city are pathetic and they are driving out city to the ground.  It's time that they wake up and realise that theya re destroying the city with their ways of thinking.  
I fully support Celine and Rene's decision for pulling the concert as there is NO way that if I was a performer would be going to a city that said the things they said about Celine to me.  
To say that you're no longer a Celine fan showed that you weren't a big fan to start with because if you were you'd be disappointed but you'd also see the reason as to why they are no longer coming.

he should be!  i read some of the ridiculous comments a lot of the citizens there made about her coming, and they make that city come of as full of ungreatful whining babies.  they created several facebook accounts protesting her appearance.  i mean seriously!  its not like she's some controversial figure.  we get all sorts of acts here in NYC, as well as controversial political figures and no one has ever recieved the icy cold reception she got in halifax.  so screw them (sorry delly), but she doesn't need them.  i hope this makes other large names apprehensive about performing there.

He may sound that way however the reporters were trying to find another reason as to why the concert was cancelled and it was annoying him.  Plus the same questions were being asked several times in different ways and I think he was also getting annoyed with that.  Oh yeah and some of the reporters asked stupid questions.

Go René. Bashing an artist before she ever came is just insane. God, an artist is not supposed to please everyone. I totally back rené on this issue. Of course the fans will be really disapointed, but rené did have to cancel a show when everyone is dissing Celine before the tickets are even on sale. Now I just hope halifax will not get any artist at the commons (or a real second rate artst) so the whole thing blows up in their face. And if Celine goes to another city close to Halifax, the situation will be even more sour for Halifax!

I'm hoping that Celine will go to Moncton.  It's about a 3 hour drive from here and they have a rivalry with Halifax when it comes to summer concerts.  
I wish I could meet Rene in Vegas to tell him that I'm 100% behind his decision and that I fully understand.  
I am from Halifax and I am ashamed of what has happened.  Never have I seen this type of reaction... EVER

okay, i finished listening to the whole interview and rene is so just on the Halifax cancellation...
he is really frank and he's just speaking the plain truth...people and especially the media like he
said need to realize that they can't just say anything and get away with it, there has to be some
kind of back lash of course!!!!
that french reporter from radio-canada was really getting on my nerves repeating the same questions
and being all smug...they thought this was a joke and rene showed them and rightfully put them in

Oh I hope there's an announcement that they will go to Moncton.  I will laugh all the way from halifax to Moncton, and that's a 3 hour drive.  Tal a lot of the questions asked in French are the same as in English but I can try to translate it if you like?
Can anyone make a copy of that interview.  I'd like to save it but I don't know how to do it from that site.
Now if I could only meet Rene in vegas to tell him I support him.

Yes, I agree!!! As he said it is his role to protect Céline.
I've heard a lot of people that because Céline sang God Bless America and plays in Vegas that now she belongs to USA. This is so insane.

Do you think they would have planned another concert the day before if it was not possible to do so????? It's only a 2 hour flight from Quebec to Halifax. It's not like going to France and having jet lag and all that stuff. If it was about going to a small city, I think she wouldnt even have considered going to your city.  She went to Jonquière in Quebec which is a city about 120 000 people at the peak of her career in the 90's during her world tour.  It's clear that the real reason is about the reaction of the people and the medias. I agree with you that if the city is good enough for the Rolling Stones, it should be good enough for Celine too but it seems that the majority of people didnt agree with that.
I totally support René in that story. He's 100% right. I wouldnt go to some place where i'm not wanted. There is plenty of cities around the world wanting Celine and they wont be able to have her because she cant go everywhere. If you guys really wanted her to go to your city, you should have screamed louder than the one criticizing her. I feel sorry for you.

Wow that was quite fascinating to listen to. I don't think I've ever heard Rene speak that much in the 11 years I've been following Celine's career. I completely side with him and their decision. I am so sick of people and their attitudes toward Celine. They haven't even so much as seen her in concert once and they unleash these rude and unprofessional comments? Poor Rene had to go around and around with these journalists. Rene was nothing less than patient and respectful in light of the situation. Any negativity felt from him during the interview was purely stemmed from the frustrating situation of Celine's rejection and is completely understandable. He even repeated himself again in English per request of the last journalist remaining and APOLOGIZED before doing so because the man said he missed the comment. Rene could have ended it at any point but continued until all questions now matter how obvious or STUPID were asked. No wonder Celine is the largest selling female artist in music history - Rene is her manager. Oh...and her voice has a little to do with it as well.
