I met Celine tonight!

OK...i didnt have a ticket to tonight's American Idol, but I figure I might as well try my luck! I got there around 6pm and there was a long line, but I was number 128 and they said that I would probably get in bc the sound-stage seats 600. We we escorted over around 7:30pm and waited outside while Celine rehearsed until 9pm. I ended up on the 7th or 8th row towards the middle. There were a few Celine fans, but mostly American Idol fans.

 

Celine sings a song with "elvis" - kind of like the frank sinatra song where he's on the screen. Except tonight, they weren't able to generate "elvis" on the screen, so they had an elvis impersonator there from Las Vegas. He walked out with Celine and lipsynched the Elvis verses. The song they sang was called something like "I have a dream" or "In a dream" or something about dreams!!!!

 

Celine was wearing black pants, a black mesh shirt and a black sparkley jacket. The crowd went crazy when she came on stage! We stood up during the whole song and kept giving her standing ovations after each take! They had to sing the song 4 or 5 times to get all of the camera angles and audience shots.

 

OK, now to the part about me meeting Celine During the breaks, Celine was just standing on stage and the audience warm-up guy was walking around and talking to different people in the audience. I knew I had to say something!

 

Many of you know me from Celine's FANatic episode... well, the warm-up guy came to our section and I raised my hand and said, "I have something to say"

 

And I talked about FANatic and how Celine encouraged me to go for all my dreams and now I live in LA and work in TV blah blah blah...the audience guy talked a little about FANatic and asked the audience if they remembered the show...they all started clapping for me. Celine was on stage this whole time...then she said, "Are you talking to me?" and I nodded at her...and she said "I can't hear anything....then she motioned for me to come ON STAGE and said "Come up here"

 

So, the audience warm-up guy escorted me on the stage and it was just me and Celine talking on the stage by ourselves! The mics weren't on so no one in the audience could hear....We talked about FANatic and I told her I was at the show this weekend... with her number one fan, Ramona...HA! She laughed and gave me a hug and then they escorted me back to my seat!

 

Later on during the show, I saw Rene sitting in the back of the audience! So, hopefully he heard everything that I said to the crowd!

 

During another break, this guy said he was a singer and the warm-up guy asked him to sing his favorite Celine song, so he started singing "A New Day" - Celine was looking around and kept saying, "I can't hear anything" "Can someone turn the monitors on?" and then she started mouthing the words to A New Day w/ him... he sang the first verse and then they were ready to start filming again.

 

All in all, she sang the song all the way through 3 or 4 times. Then, they played back the track and shot close=ups of her (lip-syncing) to the track.

 

I'm not sure if she ever sang the song live or if it was all playback....I was too far away.

 

Anyway, they said it would air during the live "Idol Gives Back" show. The idols were there and sang as her back-up singers/choir. They were all wearing white suits.

 

Nigel said that the song will be available on I-tunes during the live show.

 

What a night!!!!!!!!!

OMG!!! That is so amazing! I'm such an Elvis fan, he was my first love in music! So it's just like the Sinatra duet, it's the original Elvis recording and Celine, is not that Elvis impersonator singing I hope. That is so coooooool! I cannot wait to hear this. You are so lucky to get in there and to talk to Celine one on one. I hate u! A duet with Elvis was so long due.... I always felt so sorry he died before Celine started singing and so on... I'm sure if he were alive he would have recorded a real duet with her. And both Celine and Rene are such huge fans, not to mention Celine's lip thing.... I can't wait to hear and see this!

Wow Kimberly, what a great experience. I'm sooo glad for you, Celine is just the sweetest taking time out from recording her segment to meet & chat with a fan. I don't know many, if any, singers that would do that.

 

Well so much for River Deep, Mountain High I think this will be cool too though, it's def VERY different and will be unexpected that's for sure. I really thought she'd be there live though, now I'm even more excited to hear & see her do this song for everyone.

She was all goaty, sang through her nose and then squeaked like a squirrel jumping on one foot and kicking to the slow refrain like it would be a disco song. *kick* *kick* Elvis, ma friend *kick kick kick* Then after she was finished with the first stanza, she put her middle finger in the right hole of her nose, julien, aaaaaand said aloud: "I guess I have one of these nasal days, my dear Idol contestans, Céline Dion doesn't sound that bad usually, only when the cameras are on!!!" And she went on to sing the second one. At that time Elvis managed to turn 33 times in his grave.

Thanks for the review. I'm glad she chose that song. I wouldn't have want her to bring her Vegas clowns again and do the LCMM/I'm Alive circus number This one's up to her standard. Great song, impressive. The only thing that bothers me is that Elvis impersonator. Was he just there for rehearsal and they'll use real Elvis footage for the show?
